What is this community for?
This community was made to provide resources to mentally ill nonas. I know different approaches help different people, but at least for myself I found reading about mental illness and becoming informed was helpful.

This is not and alternative to professional care, however, we realise that professional care often comes with its own difficulties, and can be hard to access. Either way, having other resources can be helpful as a stopgate measure or in conjunction.

What we can provide here is limited, but when in crisis it's often difficult to do research or find websites or books on your own.

Why did you choose these books/websites/documentaries?
I explain the reasoning behind selection for the resource lists on that post. As for the e-books and documentaries, it mostly came down to availability. They aren't necessarily the best books or the best documentaries, but they're what I could find publicly available.

Making these available is not endorsement
Again, I went for what was publicly available. I tried to screen for anything that looked too outdated/biased/stigmatizing, but I haven't read or watched everything linked here, so please be warned.

Something you linked is really outdated/biased/stigmatizing/ist/phobic
Please leave a comment in the relevant post and we will try to get to it as soon as possible. I would definitely appreciate any warnings about bad content. All comments are screened, and will not be unscreened.

I'd like to recommend something
Again, please leave a comment in the relevant post.

Where can I find crisis telephone lines in my area?
The original anon resource post created by fluffy has a large amount of crisis phone numbers, along with some more websites.

Please be warned some content may be triggering

if you are in crisis, please call your local emergency services or a helpline or try a crisis chat
